Faculty Mentors

Welcome New and Returning Faculty 2008-09:

My name is Deborah Casias Noonan. I am a member of the Theology
Department, Theology Department Chair, the Faculty person who works with the
Nerinx Mentoring Program for new faculty and staff and a Freshmen Moderator.
I am glad to welcome you to Nerinx. I hope that you will have a splendid
school year.

I would like to invite everyone to let me know if you have any special
gifts or areas of expertise that you want to share with the rest of the
community. I would be happy to let the rest of the community know that you are
available. It is important that we all mentor each other. This will be
a very busy and school year, so the more we help each other the easier it will
go for all of us.

Thank those of you who have chosen to become mentors for the coming school
year. I hope that you will find this experience rewarding. Please do not
hesitate to let me know how I can help you during the school year. My mailbox
is in alphabetical order under "C" for "Casias Noonan" * I am at the top of
the second row from the window. My office is the Theology Office, located in
the Lockwood House, our office extension is # 135, my voicemail is #627. I
will have a Freshmen homeroom -- S4. My email is dcnoonan@nerinxhs.org. I
hope this helps you find me when you need me.

I will try to provide some of the basic things that we would like you as
mentors help our new Faculty and Staff become aware of and understand. Since
most of us have been here for many years, we tend to forget that the new folks
don't know all the things that are special to Nerinx. I will also copy the
"Mentors' Handbook" prepared for Mentors by Karen L. Tichy, ED.D. This was
distributed to Mentors at the Archdiocesan Meeting for Mentors.

I have prepared my own version of our ever-changing daily school schedule
and have listed the special schedules for the coming school year which Angela
Zinkl had on her a calendar for 2008-2009 at this point of time (August 8,
2008). These may be found at this site by going to the icon for Special
Schedules.

A summary of key events which you should probably explain to your Mentee will
be noted in this section. These are the little things that sometimes fall
through the cracks as the school year gets into full swing and everyone is
busy with their individual tasks. I am giving a copy of these items to
the new members of our community and hope that they will ask you about
anything that they don't know or understand. If you come across something
that you don;t know about, please ask me and I will try to find the answer.

Remember to share your wisdom about the upcoming events, wonders and secrets
of the copy machines, how to use egrades and edline, the web page, the
resource center, the library, technology resources, voice mail, email, who to
go to for what, the various forms -- attendance, mssing from class, detentions,
progress reports, etc.

Thank you for your help.
Have a wonderful new school year.

Deborah Casias Noonan

Dear Second Year Mentors:

Thank you for continuing to mentor the Faculty and Staff who joined our
community last year. I am enclosing the Calendar Two for second year
mentoring provided by Karen Tichy.

Please make contact with your Mentee and offer your support to their second
year journey. Please let me know if there is anything that I can help you with.

If for some reason you feel unable to continue mentoring this year, please let
me know this immediately, so I can find a replacement mentor.

Thank you for all your help.

Sincerely,
Deborah Casias Noonan
