BAND NEWSLETTER January 2012
Dear Students, Parents and Community,
Well, this has been the busiest concert and registration season that I can
remember. All of our bands and ensembles had outstanding concerts in
December! I hope you enjoyed the concerts half as much as I did.
I am so proud of all of our students!!!
I have received amazing reports, programs and comments from parents and the
students about the home concert project they completed. Some of the programs
turned in looked absolutely professional! I may have to turn that job over
to one of the students for our concerts. I am so glad everyone enjoyed it; I
just wish I could have come to all of the performances. I have not completed
grading them yet but that will be done shortly. Registration and the state
music convention has put me behind.
Speaking of registration, I hope everyone registered for band without any
problems. Remember that you can't skip a year of band!
State Music Convention was amazing! Parkway Central Middle was chosen to
perform (after submitting a tape) and did a great job. I was able to work
with them a bit to help them prepare and the coolest thing is that we are all
in the same league. I think this year’s 8th grade and wind ensemble will
have to send an audition recording in this year.
Don't forget about Fine Arts Night, Friday, Feb. 10th. All bands will be
performing. We need several parents to help with food sales and admission.
Please give me a call. Thanks so much!
