Where did you go to (high) school? Does that sound familiar to you? If
you grew up in St. Louis, you know that's a standard question asked upon
meeting someone new.
Although I'm not new to SGM, I may be new to some of you. To answer the
question - I went to Nerinx Hall and then graduated with a BA from St. Louis
University. I've taught at the intermediate level at Annunciation in Webster
Groves and Notre Dame Elementary in the city. I've been teaching
language arts and religion in the middle school at SGM since 1980.
I'm eager to begin a pleasant, positive, and productive year with your
children. The world of middle school students is always unique and exciting
with never a dull moment!
As a language arts teacher, my goal is to provide the students with a
process for conveying information confidently and successfully in the “real”
world. They need to be able to express their ideas intelligently, accurately,
and effectively in a written or spoken format. Editing, writing, and
diagramming (yes, diagramming, too!) all help the students reach that level of
competency. When the students leave SGM, their mastery and understanding of
the language will give them the confidence to compete with the best.
