Second Quarter Math Concepts for Sixth Grade:
During the second quarter the students will develop their decimal knowledge and
computation skills and apply their skills to the metric system. Various properties of mathematics
will be introduced as the students explore concepts in number theory as it relates to
their work with fractions.
Second Quarter Math Concepts for Seventh Grade:
During the second quarter the students will focus on number patterns, number theory
and mastering their understanding of fractions and decimals. They will refresh their
operations with fractions and mixed numbers, and learn about customary units of measurement.
Algebra skills will continue to be developed and reinforced as they relate to these concepts.
Second Quarter Math Concepts for Eighth Grade:
During the second quarter the students will learn methods to solve one and
two-step linear equations and inequalities. They will then write and solve
each type of equation and inequality to solve real-world problems. These skills
will then be used to solve equations and find dimensions using formulas for
perimeter and area. The students will also review the skills and concepts of
number theory and apply their knowledge to rational numbers, exponential expressions
and real-world problems.
