M.S. Social Studies: Mr. Decker (4th Quarter) 6TH GRADE Social Studies The sixth grade will continue to study medieval times and examine the medieval Church and its role in the daily lives of the people of Europe. We will also be discussing the Crusades and comparing Christian-Muslim relations throughout history and today. We will then be moving into the development of modern nation-states and the age of exploration. 7TH GRADE Social Studies During the 4th quarter, we will continue our study of Asia with the physical geography of Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. We will then begin an in depth look at the cultures of Asia and the Pacific. The seventh grade will take a social studies exam in May covering topics from our study of Asia. 8TH GRADE Social Studies During the 4th quarter the eighth grade will conclude its study of World War II and continue to move closer to our current era with an examination of life in the 1950’s and the dominance of social conservatism. We will then contrast the 1950’s with the social upheavals of the 1960’s including the Civil Rights, Anti-war, and Women’s Liberation movements.
