What should I do if my child is sick?

When your child is sick, please notify the school office and let them know
whether we should send homework home with a sibling or a friend or whether you
will pick it up in the school office. We understand that your child has been
sick and may not quite be up to completing it all in one night, but I would
ask that they complete it in a couple of days so that your child does not fall
too far behind or feel overwhelmed.

How are discipline issues handled?

We have a red, yellow, green stoplight discipline program that we use to
encourage good behavior. If a child
is well behaved, they will be in a green (Green=great job!) If a child is not
following our rules, we will give them several warnings. If the behavior
continues after the warnings, their status changes to yellow(Yellow=Oops!) If
they are in the yellow status and continue the behavior, they are in the red
status. (Red=Let's talk!) If the child goes into the red area, that means they
have not made an effort to follow the rules. We will be talking to them but
feel at this point, you would want to know so that you can follow up at home.
We will be sending home a form that will inform you of the behavior that needs
to be addressed, and we ask that you sign the form and return it to school.
With home and school working together, the problem can be corrected.

What is the homework policy?

We will assign homework approximately three times a week. It will be stamped
"homework" and should be returned the next day unless otherwise noted.
Spelling words will be sent home a month
in advance and the current words will be posted on this website in the
homework icon. The spelling lists have a Week of date so that you will know
which words will be learned that week. It will also list the Spelling Test
dates. Spelling words should be reviewed on a nightly basis.
