BEHAVIOR Students in the intermediate grades are held to a high standard of behavior. Respect for self and others is stressed. We believe our policy stresses the importance of self-discipline, is age appropriate, and child- centered. Students track and monitor their behavior by receiving three tokens to keep in their desk. Students will lose a token when there is a rule infraction. Students are usually given a verbal warning before a token is lost. Weekly progress reports will reflect student behavior for the week. When tokens are lost, the student will conference with Dr. Koberlein. Serious rule infractions will result in implementation of the all school discipline policy. (See handbook.) All students will start the week with three tokens - a fresh start! HOMEWORK Students will keep track of all assignments in their notebooks. These are kept at their desks throughout the day. Students are required to write down the assignments as they are given. About 45-60 minutes of homework will be assigned each night. Weekends will be lighter! They may still need assistance in cheking over and proofreading their work. Study skills are taught in the classroom to practice at home. When they are finished studying it is then appropriate for a parent to quiz or review with the student. If you notice your child struggling to complete homework, please call. Quizzes, tests, projects, and book reports will consist of two-thirds of the student's grade. The remaining third will account for the daily work and homework. HONOR ROLL Students in grade 3 are eligible for the SGM Spirit and Cooperation level of Honor Roll. To achieve this, students may have no more than 6 late assignments in the quarter, or no more than 2 late assignments in one subject. In conduct, a student may not have any "needs improvement" conduct marks or "needs improvement " conduct comments in order to be eligible for the Honor Roll. Also, a student may not have more than one NI or U on their weekly progress report per quarter
