Quarter Letter 3-5

TEXTBOOK SERIES:  "Share the Music"

CLASS SCHEDULE:  Students in grade 3-5 meet for music 45 minutes twice a 
week.  

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:  Students will be participating in a Veterans Day
Program on November 11th.  

KEY 2nd QUARTER CONCEPTS:

     --3RD GRADE:  Third grade students will be reviewing staff information 
and music notation of basic rhythms.  They will be working on rounds and
partner songs as well as learning about American Folk Songs as we prepare to
perform the Veteran's Day Program.

     --4TH GRADE:  Fourth grade students will be reviewing music notation.  
They will be singing rounds and partner songs demonstrating harmony.  
Students will also identify 2 and 3 part song form.  Students will be learning
about American Folk songs as we prepare to perform the Veteran's Day Program.

     --5TH GRADE:  Fifth grade students will be working with more complex 
music notation concepts such as key and time signatures.  Students will be 
working on correct singing techniques through partner songs and 2 part 
harmony.  Students will be learning about American Folk songs as we prepare to
perform the Veteran's Day Program.

GRADING:  Students will be assigned grades based on their mastery of 
concepts as demonstrated by in-class activities as well as written and 
performance tests.  Students will also be assigned a grade based on 
participation.  Occasional homework assignments or research topics may be 
assigned to older students.  

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:

Each class will earn music awards based on their behavior each music class 
period. I adhere to the consequences established by the Intermediate Level
teachers.
