2009 2nd Quarter PE & Health Letters
GRADE 3
The
students will review the basic skill techniques related to catching, throwing,
bouncing, and kicking, as they are introduced to more challenging game
activities. Self testing fitness activities will be introduced. Positive
health habits related to personal hygiene are being introduced on a regular
basis.
GRADE
4
The
students will begin to play more advanced games which require the refinement
of their ball handling skills. Cooperative play is stressed. Fitness testing
will challenge each of them to strive continuously to improve their scores.
During this quarter, continued nutritional investigation of the new Food Guide
Pyramid and how to read food labels will occur.
GRADE
5
The
students will participate in a variety of group activities in which each one
will have the opportunity to be a leader. The practice of good sportsmanship
when participating in competitive games will be stressed. Continued self
testing on the President’s Fitness Challenge will also be included. Their
health topics will include an overview of the human body circulatory system
and will learn the major structures and vocabulary related to that system.
