2nd Quarter P.E. & Health Letter
KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten
students will be introduced to a variety of manipulative equipment
experiences: jump ropes, hula hoops, bean bags, balls of various types,
scoops, paddles, parachutes, etc. Listening and following directions will
continue to be stressed.
GRADE
1
The
students in the first grade will continue to experience a variety of vigorous
activities that involve the use of many parts of the body. Several different
types of activities, each of short duration, are introduced or reviewed during
each gym period. The skills involved in throwing, catching, bouncing, and
kicking will be stressed this quarter. Each week they will continue the
creation of their alphabet book of healthy foods which is introducing them to
good nutrition habits.
GRADE
2
The
students will be progressing into many ball handling challenges with proper
catching, throwing, bouncing, and kicking techniques being stressed. Many new
games of low organization will be used to reinforce the skills being
presented. They are creating an alphabet book entitled "Fitness is Fun". Each
letter in the book represents a good healthy habit. Examples are: E is for
exercise, H is for heart, etc.
