Quarter Letters K - 2

2nd Quarter P.E. & Health Letter

KINDERGARTEN

Kindergarten students will be introduced to a variety of manipulative equipment experiences: jump ropes, hula hoops, bean bags, balls of various types, scoops, paddles, parachutes, etc.  Listening and following directions will continue to be stressed.

 GRADE 1

The students in the first grade will continue to experience a variety of vigorous activities that involve the use of many parts of the body.  Several different types of activities, each of short duration, are introduced or reviewed during each gym period.  The skills involved in throwing, catching, bouncing, and kicking will be stressed this quarter.  Each week they will continue the creation of their alphabet book of healthy foods which is introducing them to good nutrition habits.

 GRADE 2

The students will be progressing into many ball handling challenges with proper catching, throwing, bouncing, and kicking techniques being stressed.  Many new games of low organization will be used to reinforce the skills being presented.  They are creating an alphabet book entitled "Fitness is Fun". Each letter in the book represents a good healthy habit. Examples are: E is for exercise, H is for heart, etc.
