GRADE 6 LANGUAGE ARTS
READING
CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED
Students will write their own story based on those we studied in the oral
tradition (myth, origin tale, tall tale, trickster tale, etc.). We will also read
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. The novel, divided into four sections,
explores the author’s use of foreshadowing and character development, as
well as her development of various themes.
ENGLISH
CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED
Editing written content and journaling will be a part of every class. Our
grammar focus will include correct use and punctuation of clauses and the
various types of sentence structures. There willalso be an overview of
punctuation and capitalization. All of these will be incorporated into their
writing assignments.
SPELLING
CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED
Students continue their study in Vocabulary in Action , covering one
chapter every two weeks. Exercises, as well as weekly and review tests,
include both spelling and word meaning.
6A RELIGION
CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED
After finishing the Family life series, our Old Testament study of Gods
relationship with His people continues, focusing on Joshua and Isreal's
judges and kings.
LEARNING LAB
During this period, there will be interactive experiences with other grade levels,
a daily opportunity to see other teachers for assistance, class meetings,
and study halls.
GRADE 7B ENGLISH
CONCEPTS TO BE COVERED
Editing written content and journaling will be a part of every class. Our
grammar focus will include recognition, use, and punctuation of verbal
phrases (participles and infinitives), clauses, and types of sentences (compound,
complex, etc). We will also have an overview of capitalization and punctuation.
All of these will be incorporated into their writing assignments.
