Homework

3a & 3b: We are working on telling the story of the first Christmas using MS Word, including 
sentences and "dingbats." Dingbats are fonts that have pictures instead of letters.

4a & 4b: We are working on creating charts using Excel. We're using Google Maps to give us milage 
to chart. 

5a & 5b: We have been working on written material for the Science Fair. We printed preliminary 
copies on 11-30. We decorated them using www.cooltext.com. We completed a Halloween poster, 
using Word. We designed with Word Art, fonts & dingbats.

6a & 6b: We are working on a PowerPoint presentation about a national monument. We're doing 
research and inserting photos and adding transitions. We have completed our Gold Rush newspaper, 
including section breaks, and pictures wrapped with text. We review good keyboarding on 11/4. 
Homework was Drill 1, due 11/18 (2 weeks from day assigned). To get to Drill 1, go to "Keyboarding 
& other great links!" on left. Add your name and print.

7a & 7b: We are exploring MS Excel, learning to enter formulas and creating charts. Our computer 
exam will be about MS Excel. The study guide is available to download in "Homework Help!" We 
reviewed the tools of PowerPoint by creating a Halloween PowerPoint, inserting animated gifs and 
sounds. 

8a & 8b: Homework for the weekend of Dec. 5-6 is to try to sign in to the wiki. See "It's All About the 
Wiki" page for more information. 

The 8th grade will work together on a wiki to create complete scripts for KSGM. A wiki is a webpage 
that can be easily edited by registered members. The link to our wiki is on the "It's All About the 
Wiki" page 

Homework is Drill 6, for 8a it was due 11/18, for 8b it was due 11/19 (2 weeks from day 
assigned). To get to Drill 6, go to "Keyboarding & other great links!" on left. Add your name and 
print.

In class, we are exploring MS Excel, reviewing formulas and creating charts. We learned to use 
autofill with an absolute cell reference. We have completed a project working with Señora Weckback. 
We created a poster, written in Spanish, for Los Diás de los Muertos.

Behind in your work due to absence? 
You may use the computer lab during recess any day except Thurs. 

About Keyboarding homework: Students have at least 2 weeks to complete a
drill. Click "Keyboarding and other Great Links" on the left to find my keyboarding
homework link. Be sure to put your name on the printout. 

Printer not working? Ask Mom or Dad to email the homework to me--send a
screenshot or PDF. Just click the mailbox on this page for my email. 

Internet not working? Ask me for a printed copy. You can type from that.

Is your home computer unavailable? Arrange to come to the lab during activity
or recess and use the school computer.
