Second Quarter Fall 2009

Grades 3-5
In Second Quarter, we will cover:
• Slideshows with KidPix
• Using MS Word to write sentences and add clipart
• 4th and 5th grades will work on basic keyboarding
• 5th grade will have keyboarding homework, due 2 weeks from the date assigned
• 5th grade will begin PowerPoint later this quarter
Grades 6-8
In Second Quarter, we will cover:
• Keyboarding with UltraKey and homework keyboarding drills.
• Internet research
• PowerPoint, including slide transitions, inserting artwork and animations, and charts
• 6th grade will use advanced operations in MS Word, including columns, sections,
formatting artwork
• 7th grade will work with MS Excel, entering formulas, creating charts, and introducing functions
• 8th grade will need a St. Louis County Library card number for research
• 8th grade will begin preparing a research paper
• 8th grade will use a wiki to collaborate on writing for morning announcements
• 8th grade will explore iLife software
• 8th grade have an exam at the end of this quarter, including what we have learned in Word and
research skills
Exams: 7th and 8th grade will take exams this semester. The date will be announced. 6th grade will
take an exam in the second semester.
