3a & 3b: We are working on telling the story of the first Christmas using MS Word, including sentences and "dingbats." Dingbats are fonts that have pictures instead of letters. 4a & 4b: We are working on creating charts using Excel. We're using Google Maps to give us milage to chart. 5a & 5b: We have been working on written material for the Science Fair. We printed preliminary copies on 11-30. We decorated them using www.cooltext.com. We completed a Halloween poster, using Word. We designed with Word Art, fonts & dingbats. 6a & 6b: We are working on a PowerPoint presentation about a national monument. We're doing research and inserting photos and adding transitions. We have completed our Gold Rush newspaper, including section breaks, and pictures wrapped with text. We review good keyboarding on 11/4. Homework was Drill 1, due 11/18 (2 weeks from day assigned). To get to Drill 1, go to "Keyboarding & other great links!" on left. Add your name and print. 7a & 7b: We are exploring MS Excel, learning to enter formulas and creating charts. Our computer exam will be about MS Excel. The study guide is available to download in "Homework Help!" We reviewed the tools of PowerPoint by creating a Halloween PowerPoint, inserting animated gifs and sounds. 8a & 8b: Homework for the weekend of Dec. 5-6 is to try to sign in to the wiki. See "It's All About the Wiki" page for more information. The 8th grade will work together on a wiki to create complete scripts for KSGM. A wiki is a webpage that can be easily edited by registered members. The link to our wiki is on the "It's All About the Wiki" page Homework is Drill 6, for 8a it was due 11/18, for 8b it was due 11/19 (2 weeks from day assigned). To get to Drill 6, go to "Keyboarding & other great links!" on left. Add your name and print. In class, we are exploring MS Excel, reviewing formulas and creating charts. We learned to use autofill with an absolute cell reference. We have completed a project working with Señora Weckback. We created a poster, written in Spanish, for Los Diás de los Muertos. Here are some general notes about homework: Behind in your work due to absence? You may use the computer lab during recess any day except Thurs. About Keyboarding homework: Students have at least 2 weeks to complete a drill. Click "Keyboarding and other Great Links" on the left to find my keyboarding homework link. Be sure to put your name on the printout. Printer not working? Ask Mom or Dad to email the homework to me--send a screenshot or PDF. Just click the mailbox on this page for my email. Internet not working? Ask me for a printed copy. You can type from that. Is your home computer unavailable? Arrange to come to the lab during activity or recess and use the school computer. *Please Note: Changes may occur to assignments during actual class instruction that may not always be listed on this page. Remember to always refer to your child's Assignment Notebook. This site is a support and aid to, not a replacement for, the Assignment Notebook provided to all students. Students are expected to keep their Assignment Notebooks current every day in my classroom. I will do my best to see that what is posted on this site and what is in your child’s assignment notebook match. Ms. McCormack
