Dear Parents,
It’s hard to believe that Advent is here already. We talked about how we
prepare our hearts for Jesus’ birthday. We have an Advent tree in our
classroom and each day we will make one ornament. On a certain day, each child
will get to decorate the ornament and it will be a reminder of what we will do
each day to prepare our hearts. For example, today, we are to hug someone.
Tomorrow, we will go out of our way to thank someone. We have discussed how
this will help us focus on preparing ourselves rather than the “toys” we hope
to get etc. The children are very excited and each night, I will list the
“promise” in our religion homework, so that you can remind your child what we
are working on at school. It is most beneficial when home and school work
together. Our tree will look very beautiful at the end of Advent!
This week, we are working on s blends (sl, sm, sn, sp, etc) See how many
words you can find in newspapers, books, road signs etc. It’s amazing how
observant they are and it helps that they are learning too!
Keep working on those math facts. We will be finishing our chapter on
plane and solid shapes. Ask your child to name the plane shapes (circle,
rectangle, square, and triangle) and solid shapes ( sphere, rectangular prism,
pyramid, cube, cone). You’ll be surprised how much they know!
Thanks for all you do to support our learning in the classroom. Hope
you have a nice week!
