In SIXTH GRADE key concepts this quarter include conjugating –ar verbs in the
singular, present tense and using TENER expressions to indicate feelings. If
time permits we will begin telling time. Students will also enhance their
vocabulary and expand their writing skills with additional adjectives and
interrogatives. There will be a first semester Spanish exam in mid-December.
SEVENTH GRADERS will distinguish between wants and needs while conjugating
the –ar verbs “desear” and “necesitar” followed by infinitives. They will
also use the irregular verb “ser” (to be) to express nationality,
professions, and possession.
EIGHTH STUDENTS will identify and respond to interrogatives, enhance
vocabulary with an extensive list of adjectives, and conjugate the verb “ser”
(to be). As time permits, they will also label shops and public buildings
using the irregular verbs “ir, querer, and preferir” to express likes and
personal preferences. There will be a first semester Spanish exam in mid-
December.
ALL CLASSES will discuss Christmas customs of Spain and South America.
During November we will recite the Angel of God before each class, and during
December we will say the Our Father to prepare for our Spanish Mass honoring
Our Lady of Guadalupe.
