¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Ahora vamos a trabajar juntos y aprender
mucho del mundo de español. A veces voy a usar este espacio para escribir
información signifíca de la cultura o gramática española.
Welcome to Spanish! Now we're going to
work together and learn a lot about the Spanish-speaking world. At times I
will use this space to share important events or grammatical concepts.
December 9 is the feast of Juan Diego, and December 12 is the feast of Our
Lady of Guadalupe. We will celebrate a Spanish all school Mass on Friday,
December 11. Hope you can be present to share our faith and our talents.
EIGHTH GRADE students will lead our celebration.
The FIFTH GRADE will make piñatas for Las Posadas (Spanish for "the inn"), a
traditional Mexican festival which re-enacts Joseph's search for room at the
inn. Students will process through the hall dressed as Joseph and Mary
carrying a doll representing the Christ Child. The processional stops at
previously selected classrooms and asks for lodging for the night. In Mexico
this continues for eight nights before Christmas in commemoration of the
journey of Mary and Joseph from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
