THIRD GRADERS have been learning to express feelings applying
subject/adjective agreement. They will then use verb commands to stop, look,
and listen while crossing the street, discuss modes of transportation,
identify various locations, and write simple sentences to express actions in
the future. As the Christmas season nears, the children will review
differences between hoiday celebrations in the United States and those common
to Mexico and parts of South America.
FOURTH GRADE students are currently sharing their acting talents in a four
act skit that takes place in a restaurant. They will then discuss the
various classes studied in school and instruments played in music class. As
Christmas draws near they will discuss the importance of “Las Posadas”
and “El Día de los Reyes.”
FIFTH GRADERS will use adjectives to describe animals, people, and places.
Specific skills include adjective placement and adjective/noun agreement.
With the addition of singular, present tense verb endings and subject
pronouns, students will now be able to construct more complex sentences.
During the nine days before Christmas, they will celebrate “Las Posadas”
as they visit classrooms in search of a place for the Child Jesus to be born.
JUST A REMINDER:
While they do not have written homework in Spanish, THIRD AND FOURTH grade
students do have frequent quizzes to evaluate progress. I would encourage
you to review vocabulary and skills with your child. You may be surprised at
all he/she has learned, and it is a great feeling for a child to have the
opportunity to become the teacher. ***Grades 3 & 4 can view current
vocabulary on this web page under Curriculum 3-4.
FIFTH GRADE, homework will involve both study and written assignments. Please
turn in all work when requested. Part of the learning process is finiding
your mistakes and making corrections. Assignments should also be used to
review for tests and quizzes.
Fifth grade students can enhance learning via the internet. A number of
links are available . Simply click the Links icon on my web page.
May God bless you and yours throughout the up-coming holiday season.
Vaya con Dios!
Sincerely,
Señora Weckback
