Welcome to the web site of Coach Scott Brown. I was born and raised in
St. Louis, MO and lived here for all but two years of my life. I am the
middle of three children. I have two sisters, both of whom attended Cor Jesu
Academy. My older sister lives in the Kirkwood area with her four kids and
my younger sister now lives in Dallas, TX with her husband and twin boys. My
mother and father still live in the South County Area. My father has always
been the most influential person in my life. He was Vice-President of
Engineers for White-Rodgers, in Affton, a division of Emerson Electric. He
worked there for over thirty-five years and has now been retired for just
over ten years. My mom and dad enjoy spending time at Carlyle Lake in
Illinois.
Through the second grade I attended St. Joan of Arc. At the end of
second grade my Dad was transferred to Harrison, AR where I attended Skyline
Heights Elementary for third and fourth grade. My Dad was then transferred
back to St. Louis the summer before fifth grade. From fifth through eighth
grade I attended Assumption Grade School in South County. I am a very proud
graduate of the Class of 1984 at Vianney High School. During high school I
played three years on both the varsity baseball and football teams and played
basketball my freshman year. In football I was a QB and DB and in baseball I
was a P and OF. Following my graduation I was received a baseball
scholarship, as a pitcher, to the University of Missouri. After two years I
transferred to Illinois State University. Following my collegiate playing
days I was fortunate to spend parts of two seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates
organization. My two most memorable baseball achievements are pitching the
final three innings in a win over Team USA in 1989 and later that summer
being on the Augusta Pirates team that won the South Atlantic League
Championship. We beat the Gastonia Rangers for the championship. The
featured future major leaguers Ivan Rodriguez, Robb Nenn and Darrin Oliver
Upon my release from the Pirates I signed a contract to be a teacher and
coach at CBC High School in the fall of 1990 and would remain there for the
next 20 years. For my first eleven years at CBC I coached football. The
final seven of those years was spent as a varsity assistant and offensive
coordinator. I coached freshman basketball for three years, 1994-97. I am
very proud to have won the Vianney Freshman Basketball Tournament both as a
player and then as a coach. I spent nineteen years coaching baseball at CBC,
eighteen as the head coach. 87 of my former players went on to play college
baseball, 27 went on to Division 1 schools. I also coached 9 players who
have gone on to play professional baseball. During my time as head coach my
teams won 12 district titles and amassed 281 victories, which is the most in
CBC history. My final six years at CBC I also served as the school’s
Athletic Director. In those six years our teams won 12 state championships,
an individual state champion in tennis and had 6 other teams reach the Final
Four.
This past August my wife Wendy and I celebrated our 18th wedding
anniversary. We have two boys, Matt and Chris, both of whom are students at
Vianney. My wife Wendy is a Supervisor of IT on the Trade Floor at Ameren-
UE. Our oldest son, Matt, is a sophomore. As freshman at CBC last year he
was the starting 3B on their State Championship Baseball Team and a LW on
their State Finalist Hockey Team. As a 12 year old, in 2007, he was a
member of the Affton Americans Pee Wee Major National Championship hockey
team. Currently, he is a QB in the Vianney Football program. Our youngest
son Chris is a freshman at Vianney this year. He is a member of the Honors
Program and plays WR on the freshman football team. He also plays hockey and
baseball player and hopes to play both this year at Vianney. During Chris’
8th grade year he was named South County Student-of-the-Month by the Lemay
Optimists. Our family is a member of Queen of All Saints Parish in Oakville.
