Trinity Catholic High School
Summer Reading Program
Trinity Catholic High School will be initiating its first Summer
Reading Program. The purpose of this summer reading program is to encourage
students to be life-long readers and to help them maintain reading and
thinking skills. This reading program is required of all returning students
and the incoming freshmen.
All students will be required to read a minimum of two books. One
is a required title and the second must be chosen from a recommended book
list. The required book will be given to all Sophomore, Junior, and Senior
students. Freshmen will be required to purchase the book from Amazon or a
local bookstore. Freshmen will be using this book in Social Studies and
English classes. Sophomore, Junior and Senior honors students will be asked
to read a third book assigned by the individual teacher.
Assessment of the summer reading program is multifaceted.
Assessment of the required book will be done in class during the first two
weeks of school in August. Part of this may include some written work over
the summer. Assessment of the free choice book will be the completion of
the Summer Reading Program Assignment Form which will be posted on the LMC
page of the Trinity Website. The completed assignment form must be
submitted during the first week of school, it will be graded, and will count
as a unit test.
