Fall has definitely arrived; there is a definite chill in the air. We are
soon to complete our first nine weeks of school. How exciting is that? The
students are working hard to complete all assignments and are such a joy to
be around! We are studying nursery rhymes, fall, community helpers, spiders,
and Halloween/ Harvest in the month of October.
We will be traveling to Bull Bottom Farm on October 3rd. This should be a
fun and educational trip. Also, we will have a harvest party on October
26th. Please do not allow your child to wear any type of costume.
We have introduced some sight words to the children and they are
enjoying "reading" the words to us! As always, we will continue to work on
basic readiness skills, such as learning letters, numbers, colors, cutting,
etc.
Please review numbers and letters each day with your child. Have him/her say
the letter's name and the sound it makes. Practice writing the letter/number
on scraps of paper. Look for the letter/number in junk mail. There are lots
of ways to help your child reinforce, learn and understand what they are
learning at school. We will also work on recognising our names and the names
of our classmates. Please ask your child to write/trace his/her name for
you. This is an essential skill that requires much practice.
South Panola has a parent center that you can visit and check out various
educational materials that will help you reinforce what is being taught in
the classroom. Please visit as often as you like and check out materials that
will help your child continue to progress.
As always, you are welcome to come and visit our class as long as it does
not upset your child. However, we do ask that you call and schedule a time
so we do not want to interrupt our learning process by having a large number
of people in the classroom at one time. If you have any questions or
concerns, feel free to contact me at 662-563-4596.
