Batesville is my hometown. I graduated from South Panola
High School and earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in elementary
education from Ole Miss. I'm certified in gifted education and have also
earned National Board Certification. Previously, I taught third grade at
Batesville Intermediate for eighteen years. This is my sixth year teaching
merit, and I absolutely love it!
I live here in Batesville with my husband, Howard, our son, Calvin (a
senior this year at South Panola!), our dog, Snowy, and our cat, Rebel. Our
family belongs to Batesville Presbyterian Church. In my free time I enjoy
reading, birdwatching, writing, drawing, painting, hunting, fishing, cooking
(sometimes), enjoying nature, and gardening.
Within our units of study, students will be provided many
opportunities for meeting the six outcomes of the Mississippi Gifted
Education Framework. These outcomes include: demonstrating creativity, using
research, communicating knowledge, developing group dynamics (working as a
team), self-directed learning (selecting & completing independent projects),
and strengthening thinking skills.
