Teague Burchfield begins his
second year as head coach of
the Lafayette High School Boys
Basketball Team. The Commodores
completed last year's season with
a 1-25 record; however, the
Commodores lost no one to graduation.
A graduate of Mississippi College
(2001), Burchfield began his
coaching career at Madison
Central High School, in Madison,
MS. While there, he served as
the assistant boys basketball
coach for the Jaguars and under
the direction of Head Coach
Jeff Heath, won four division
titles (03-04, 05-06, 06-07,
and 07-08) and one state
championship (2006). The Jaguars
also amassed a four year run
(2004-08) of winning twenty or
more games in each season, and in
2006, the Jaguars completed their
state title run with a 30-8 record.

Coach Burchfield is a native of
Enterprise, MS, where he
graduated from high school in
1997. He is married to the
former Robyn Kyzar of McComb,
MS. They are the proud parents
of two kids- Phillip (3) and
Ellyn (1).

Corey Burt is in his third year
as the head coach of the
Lafayette Middle School Boys
Basketball Team. Burt is a
graduate of both East Central
Community College (2004) and West
Alabama (2006).

Coach Burt leads both the seventh
and eight grade boys basketball
teams. He is also on the
Lafayette Baseball Staff serving
as an assistant.

Coach Burt is a native of
Philadelphia, MS, and is a
graduate of Neshoba Central High
School (2002). He is married to
the former Beth Black of Oxford,
MS.

Jonathan Rutledge will begin his
second year as a student assistant
for the Lafayette Varsity Boys
Basketball Program. Rutledge is
a graduate of Madison Central
High School (2007) where he
managed the football, basketball,
and baseball teams.

Coach Rutledge, a native of
Madison, MS, is currently a
junior at the University of
Mississippi majoring in Social
Studies Education. He also
serves as a manager for the Ole
Miss Rebel Football Program.

Joel Thompson begins his first year
as a student assistant for the
Lafayette Varsity Boys Basketball
Program. Thompson is a graduate of
Madison Central High School (2006)
where he was a member of the 2006
State Championship Boys Basketball
Team.

Coach Thompson, a native of Madison,
MS, is currently a junior at the
University of Mississippi majoring
in Computer Science.
