QUEST!QUEST! Question Understand Examine Solve Think!
Lafayette's program for intellectually gifted students in grades 2-8
Eligibility for QUEST! is determined according to Mississippi State Department of Education Regulations. Initial referrals may be made by anyone believing the student to show an exceptional intellectual ability. To begin the process, a referral form is completed and information from other measures, which may include checklists by parents or teachers, scores from intellectual screeners and/or other tests, are collected. If the Local Survey Committee (LSC) determines the student is eligible to continue in the process, an individual IQ test is administered by a licensed psychometrist. Students must score at or above the 90th percentile for admission to the program. Eligible students spend a minimum of five hours per week in QUEST! classes where hands-on and discovery processes are encouraged. Some examples of these may include simulations, group and individual projects, concept units, experiments, and the arts.
Please see the "Gifted Handbook" page for more information on our program.
