UM-CMSE Hosts High School Mississippi College- and Career-Ready Mathematics Workshop Series
The University of Mississippi Center for Mathematics and Science Education will hold a workshop on January 30, 2015 to help teachers learn ways to engage high school students in the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
With the Mississippi College- and Career-Ready Standards for Mathematics comes a new way of thinking about teaching and learning mathematics. The standards require students to engage in learning mathematics through problem solving, modeling, and utilizing repeated reasoning. Students not only need to be able to justify their own reasoning, but also make sense of the arguments of others. The workshop will be held at the Center for Mathematics and Science Education. Registration is $95, which includes 0.6 CEUs. For more information and to register, visit http://umcmse.com/pd/hs-ccmws/.
