In August, 2000, Madison County School District and Holmes Community College
implemented a "School Day" Dual Enrollment Program for advanced high school
seniors. The School Day Dual Enrollment Program allows seniors the
opportunity to take college classes within the time frame allocated for the
regular high school day. Seniors that are eligible for the Dual Enrollment
Program take 4 courses per semester at Ridgeland High School and make take up
to 6 hours of college coursework per semester at Holmes Community College.
The Dual Enrollment admission requirements are as follows:
1. The student must have earned a minimum of 20 high school credits, be
classified as a high school senior, and have an overall cumulative grade
average of 85.0 or higher.
2. The students mus have an minimum ACT Composite Score of 20 or an SAT
Combined Score of 990.
3. The student must have passed a minimum of 5 credits in the preceding
school year.
4. The student must not have any disciplinary infractions resulting in
placement at an alternative school or expulsion from the preceding school
year.
