The HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION Scholarship can be accessed online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships
One student will be selected to represent South Panola High School. To apply for the state and national competition, students must have at least a 2.0 GPA, be involved in community and extracurricular activities, demonstrate integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and show critical financial need (family adjusted gross income $50,000 or less).
Begin completing the required paperwork early as the deadline for all information to be submitted is October 25th. Last year, SPHS had a state winner in the competition who received $5,000.
The COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM selects 250 students across the United States to receive four year achievement-based scholarships. The initial application deadline is October 31st. Students apply to be selected as a semi-finalist and submit an additional application in mid January, if chosen. 2,200 semifinalists will be chosen. These semifinalists then compete to be a finalist and may receive either $10,000 or $20,000. Apply at www.coca-colascholars.org

The PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARD program is for students who have made a difference in their community and school through volunteer work. One to two students will be selected to represent South Panola in the state and national competition. Submit your application online, then print and take it to your principal to certify. Jubilee Scholarship provided by Delta Area Association for Improvement of Schools is available and taking applications through their December 31, 2012 deadline. The Jubilee Scholarship is a one time $5,000 scholarship for a high school senior majoring in any discipline of SCIENCE. Goal is to improfve the standards of living of the Mississippi Delta by encouraging education. Financial need is not a consideration, however, academic performance, potential leadership qualities, and willingness to succeed will be. Applications are available in the guidance office.
WADE Incorporated assists students obtain a 2 year Associates degree through a John Deere specialized AG-Tech program
which results in the student becoming a John Deere Advanced Technician by graduation. This program through Northwest MS Community College provides tuition and money for books.
