Should I send a snack with my child?
Throughout the year I will request each student to bring in a box
of graham crackers. Any flavor of crackers will do,infact the
students love chocolate and cinnamon. We have these for a snack
each day and all share.
Do we have volunteers in our classroom?
Yes we do! I love to have parents help out. I will send home a
form to fill out in October. I find that it takes us a month to
get into our routine and feel comfortable as a group. Remember,
you can help in other ways besides
coming in.
What should I do if my child is sick?
If your child isn't feeling well, it is best to keep them home
for the day. Children that are sick and come to school can make
the rest of us sick. Please call the school office in the morning
and let us know.
Do I need to send a note if my child misses a day of school?
Yes, please send me a note to let me know a general reason for
your child's absence. If you know that your child is going to
miss a day of school in advance, send me a note to let me know
the date(s) your child will not be in school. I can send home
makeup work in advance.
What should every third grader have for school?
The most important thing to have in third grade is a fairly large
backpack. Lately, backpacks seem to be getting smaller. We make a
lot of projects with a larger backpack, these will make it home
in better shape. Your child also needs to bring his/her school
folder everyday. I will send it home in the evening with graded
papers, notes and homework. Each student needs to bring their AR
book home nightly as well to read and return the following day.
What do I do if my child has a problem at school?
It is very important that you contact me as soon as possible. In
many situations, children will not inform me of the problems i.e.
the bus, the playground, etc. Once I am made aware, I will help
your child to solve the issue at hand.
What is the rule about birthdays at school?
In our classroom students may bring a birthday treats on their
special day or school day that is closest to their actual
birthday. Please let me know ahead of time. All summer birthdays
will be celebrated in January. Birthday invitations cannot be
handed out in class unless there is an invitation for each child.
This spares hurt feelings.
What if we forget our library books on Tuesday?
We all forget things at one time or another. Just send the book
in the next day or keep until the following scheduled library.
What happens if my child brings a sack lunch?
Your child is welcome to bring a sack lunch to school. Please
have them tell me first thing in the morning during lunch count,
so I may notify the kitchen.
What is the procedure for bringing money to school?
If you child needs to bring in money for lunch or etc, place it in
a sealed envelope with my name and your child's on the outside as
well as what the money is for.
Do you have Book It in your classroom?
Yes, our third grade classroom participates in the Book It
project. The program runs October-March. More information
regarding Book It will be given out in October.
Do you have book club orders in your classroom?
Yes, our third grade class will be given book orders once a
month. These book clubs offer great books for really good prices.
Please make all checks payable to the book club when you send in
your orders.
What time is lunch and may I come to lunch?
Your child's lunch time is at 11:50 to 12:40. You may come
and eat lunch with your child any day of the week. Parent's
and/or visitors will pay $2. Please send a note if you plan on
