![]() Weekly NewsletterNovember 11, 2009 Dear Parents, I am really looking forward to meeting with you this week and discussing the progress of “our” kids! We have 15 minutes slotted for our conference times and we can not run over that time. The entire school’s schedule could get messed up because siblings’ conferences are back to back. So we all need to work together to stick to that time frame. If you feel like you would like more time to discuss the progress of your child, then we can schedule another time after conferences. This week in religion we will continue learning about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please remember to go over the formula with your child so that they are very familiar with it which will help them to be more relaxed on the night of December 1st. We will be talking about what a conscience is. This week in reading we will read an Arthur story. This is always a favorite of the children! We will be working on silent letters in words. They are easier to read than they are to spell! So practice, practice, practice!!! In math we will finish up the chapter on place value. Remember to continue practicing those math facts every single night. You should include the sums up to 18. You do not need to go any further than that since that would be two digit addition. Just a reminder that you may use the books the children read at home for Accelerated Reader (AR) and also for my book reports for Pasta House. You might as well get double use out of one book! This week we have two dress down days. On Tuesday, November 10th, the children may wear nice jeans/pants, appropriate shirts, and tennis shoes. No shorts, please. This is their reward for meeting their AR goals for first quarter and everyone in our classroom met their goal!!! YAY!!! On Wednesday, November 11th, they may wear red, white, or blue in honor of Veterans Day. They are also asked to bring in $1.00 for care packages that will be sent to our soldiers. We will write letters at school which will be included in these packages, as well. The children’s last names will not be included for safety reasons. Just a reminder… our Mission Raffle is on November 18th. That is really creeping up on us! . Remember to turn in all candy jars and all school raffle prizes no later than November 16th. Nothing will be accepted on the day of the raffle since we will be going to the classrooms at 7:30. We ask that each child bring in a candy jar so we have enough for each classroom in the entire school. In the past years, we have made over $1000.00 for the poor. That is an incredible amount of money to pass on to those who so desperately need it. We could never help so many hungry, poor children if it weren’t for you great parents who are so generous! Don’t forget to send in money for your child to buy raffle tickets in our own classroom! MANY, MANY THANKS!!! …Ask and it shall be given to you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luke 11:9 Mrs. Carel |
