BOOK REPORT

BOOK REPORT DIRECTIONS FOR NOVEMBER

1- Read a true - fact book about a native American person or tribe.

2- On looseleaf paper, with the holes to the left, write your name, November Book Report, the title, author, and number of pages in the book. This is the heading. Write in neat cursive and skip lines between each part.

3 - Skip a line and list ten important facts about the person or tribe. Number each fact and start each fact on a new line. Skip lines between the facts to make the report neat and easy to read.

4 - Make a poster to show something you learned. Give the poster a title and write your name in pencil in the corner of the poster. You may use a whole poster board or cut one in half. It needs to be regular poster board that can be hung on the cork strip in the hall. You may use markers, crayons, or colored pencils. You may cut out pictures and glue them on, but remember, this is a BOOK REPORT. You must use the information you get in the book, even if you use the Internet to get pictures. If it isn't in the book, don't use it.

5- You should be able to tell the class about your poster and what you have learned. You should be able to show on a map where the person or tribe is from. You will receive a social studies grade on this report, as well as a book report grade.

6- This book does not have to be an AR book, but if it is, take the test as soon as you can. Many Native American books are not on the AR list.

7- The book report and poster are due Nov. 19. All other books for the November independent reading goal need to be on the AR list. The last day to take the AR tests for November is Dec. 1, but try to finish before Thanksgiving.

**EXTRA CREDIT REPORT**
Read a book that tells a Native American legend. Write your name, the title, author, and number of pages on looseleaf paper. Be prepared to TELL the story to the class. You may work alone or with one or two other people who have read the same book. You may do this any time during the month of November.
