I grew up in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest of three children.I graduated from
Queens College in NYC with a BA degree and licenses to teach both in the
state of New York and in New York City.
After teaching third grade in a NYC public school for two years, I "retired"
to become a stay-at-home mom. When our boys were two, three, and four years
old, we moved to New Jersey. Three years later, we were blessed with a
daughter. Soon after, my husband was transferred to St. Louis County.
When we became part of Holy Infant Parish, our boys became students at the
school. There was one class at each grade level then, and everyone knew
everyone else. We were very impressed with the dedication of the sisters and
the other teachers, and with the friendly welcome we got from the other
parents. I was invited to volunteer at the school, and I could bring my
little girl with me. When our twins were born to complete our family, I
slowed down with my volunteer activities, but I continued to be a den mother.
The twins were always popular at pack meetings! As they grew older I went
back to being a room mother and recess volunteer. I became a Sunday morning
preschool teacher, with my daughters as my helpers. Eventually, all six of my
children graduated from Holy Infant, and I have always been grateful for the
education they received.
After my husband died, I taught kindergarten at a private school and went to
UMSL to become licensed to teach in Missouri. I began teaching at Holy Infant
in 1981, when my younger children were still students here.I took classes
through the Paul VI Institute to become certified to teach religion.
Now, I have eleven grandchildren. Two live in Florida, four are in South
Carolina, and five boys live in this area. My grandsons Andy and Chris are
currently Holy Infant students, and their brother Alec graduated in 2008.
What I want for the children I teach is the same thing I have always wanted
for my own children and grandchildren - everything that is good for them to
have. I want them to feel Cod's love and the respect that they deserve as His
children. I encourage them to use their God-given talents to please God and
to make things better for themselves and those around them.
We were born yo know God, to love Him, and to serve Him now, and to be happy
with Him forever.
