Special Note:  We had the drawing for the field trip chaperones.  Originally, I was told 4 parents were needed, but that has changed.  Luckily 5 parents may attend, so all 5 volunteers may attend:  Mrs. Krentz, Mrs. Levinson, Mrs. Licata, Mrs. Deister, and Mrs. Abilez.  Please send $5 for your ticket--thank you so much for your offer to help!

Because we are completing the Reading unit, we will not have Spelling this week.  We will start the work for next week but will not have a test.

As we completed our Social Studies test on communities, I became aware that many students have not visited a rural community.  This weekend sounds like it is going to be lovely.  You may want to take a drive to the country.  Ralston Purina Farm in Gray Summit is a fun outing.  St. Genevieve, Defiance, and Hermann are other fun places to visit.  I hope you can enjoy our beautiful Fall scenery.

*Dear Parents,

I plan to give the reading unit 2 test next week.  The test will include the following:

COMPREHENSION

Cause/effect: Review Practice Workbook pages 38, 42, 52, 56

Drawing conclusions:  Practice Workbook pages 43, 50, 64

Compare and contrast:  Practice Workbook pages 45, 49, 57, 66

Important and unimportant information:  Practice Workbook pages 59, 63, 70

VOCABULARY

Context clues:  Practice Workbook pages 44, 58, 72

Antonyms/synonyms:  Practice Workbook pages 51, 65, 71

REFERENCE SKILLS

Resource skills:  Practice Workbook pages 41, 48, 55, 62, 69

It is very difficult to study skills, these are practiced daily in reading class.  You may want to look over the pages to see what is expected.  Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Braun
