CLASS:
4th grade: Reading, Science, & Social Studies
We have a terrific fourth grade team this year that I enjoy
being a part of each day. We work closely together
across the grade level to coordinate activities and set curriculum goals for
our 4th graders. Mrs. O'Connell and I departmentalize our instruction which
allows for movement and diversity for our students. I will be teaching
Reading, Science and Social Studies to both classes, while Mrs. O'Connell
will be teaching Math and Writing. We are very excited to have Kristen
Barriner, a UNCW student intern,
with our class until December. She is enthusiastic about the
experience and already has jumped in with our planning and preparations
for the semester! This year, I hope to instill a true love of reading in
every child. Through our studies, I hope for students to see the importance
of reading as a tool by which to connect with the world and also to see just
how much fun it can be! Our fourth graders have so much to learn about our
great state of North Carolina in Social Studies this year and four
interesting Science study units as well...(Electricity, Rocks & Minerals,
Animal Habitats, and Food Chemistry!) We are off to a great start in our
second year as the Anderson Admirals!
Our class mission is to acquire a love of learning, to recognize our
unique talents, and to work toward a future as life-long learners.
