HOMEWORK POLICY Homework is an important aspect of your child’s education. Your child will be given their homework assignments on Monday and are expected to turn it all in on Friday. I will go over some of the homework in class. However, I will also collect some of the homework for a grade. The homework assignments reinforce skills taught in class and it also is a parents link to topics discussed in class. SNACK POLICY The students have snack everyday at 10:00. Our lunch is scheduled at 12:40 and the students have a difficult time staying focused and on task when they do not have a snack. Snack donations are always apprectiated. It will be used for those students who forgot their snack that day. BEHAVIOR POLICY My goal this year is to create an atmosphere of open communication. Every week your child and I will take the time to fill a bahavior chart. This is my way of letting you know about your child’s work habits and behavior in school. This will keep your child on the right track throughout the school year. Your child’s success is very important to me. In order to maintain a positive learning environment for all students, I expect your child to follow the classroom rules and behavior plan. My behavior plan encourages and rewards positive behavior. This plan will increase your child’s learning time by decreasing behaviors that interrupt valuable instruction time. Student Expectations The students expected behavior comes from the Anderson Elementary ROPES PROGRAM. Respect for self and others Outstanding Performance Prepared for Excellence Establish Good Habits Stay Safe DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES: This year your child will be introduced to a reward system using a card system. It is a way for your child to earn items as well as monitor their behavior. Students are encouraged to be responsible for their own actions. Students will have the opportunity to earn points and rewards by using appropriate behavior in class each day. Students will have four different colored cards to help them keep track of their own actions. The number of points they earn each week allows them to pick from the following awards: Freedom Friday Sitting Next to a Friend in the Classroom Having Lunch in the Classroom Earning a No Homework Pass Picking Something Small from the Treasure Box If a student does not earn points then a discipline note (see attached) goes home. If the note is not signed, a phone cal home will be made. If the student continues to act inappropriately in the classroom, then a parent- teacher conference will be made. Green: 3 points Yellow: 2 points (warning) Red: 1 points (Discipline note home or phone call) Orange: 0 points (a referral to the office) Points are earned daily. The points earned at the end of the week will be used during a "Freedom Friday" time and other rewards!!!
