Policies

All students will be involved in an organized physical education class at least one day per week. Students will learn physical skills alligned with the North Carolina Department of Instruction's Standard Course of Study. All students will participate unless they are otherwise unable to do so. If they are not able to participate, they will need to bring a note from home. The goal at Anderson Elementary School is to have each student exposed to a well-rounded educational experience and for all of our students to develop into productive members of society. The goal of physical education is to have our students experience all different types of physical activities to spawn interest in lifelong fitness, develop gross & fine motor skills, and experience some individual & team competition. Anderson Elementary School Students should be able to: • Demonstrate competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms. • Apply movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills. • Exhibit a physically active lifestyle. • Achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. • Demonstrate responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings. • Demonstrate understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings. • Understand that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.
