About The Teacher

I'd like to take a minute of your time to welcome you to my class and 
introduce myself!  I began my career as a teacher in 1994 and I taught 6th 
grade for five years in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts.  In the spring of 
1999, I gave birth to my first daughter,Ryleigh, and began my maternity 
leave from teaching.  Then in the summer of 2000, I had my second daughter, 
Amanda, and my maternity leave continued.  I stayed home with both girls 
while continuing to work part time in various aspects of education 
including: developing curriculum materials for the Boston Globe Newspapers 
in Education department; tutoring students privately; and working with young 
Autistic children.

Then in April of 2005, my family moved from Massachusetts to Wilmington.  
When my younger daughter began Kindergarten at Parsley, I took a 
teaching job in the SAGE department.  Then taught fourth grade the following 
year at Parsley.  

Last year I was fortunate to teach fourth grade for Anderson's opening year! 
I love Anderson and am very excited to begin another year in fourth grade!  
The only thing I ask you as a parent is to keep in touch.  Open and 
consistent communication between school and home is one of the best things 
we can do for your child.  I'm looking forward to this year and know it will 
be a huge success for your child!!
