If my child has to leave school early, will they be counted absent?

As long as they are present for half of the school day, they will not be
counted absent. 11:15 a.m. is considered half of the school day.

If I need to change the way my child gets home, what should I do?

We have to have a note signed by the parent or guardian stating the change
and the dates that it will take place. WE WILL NOT SEND THEM HOME A
DIFFERENT WAY WITHOUT A NOTE. If you are unable to send a note, please call
the office and they will relay the message. Please do not leave
transportation changes on a teacher's email account. ***If the
transportation change will involve a new bus route, a request must be
submitted to the school board's transportation office 72 hours before the
change will take place.

Can I visit the classroom?

Absolutely! We want our parents to be involved as much as possible. Also,
feel free to join us for lunch. Our lunch begins at 11:20.

What should we be working on at home?

Nightly homework is very important since it reinforces what we are learning
in the classroom. You should also make sure your child reads every night,
the more practice they have, the more comfortable they will become with
their own skills. You could also work on reading and spelling their first
grade core word list.

What should I do if my child misses school?

The day that they return to school, they should bring a note explaining why
they were absent. If we do not receive a note or phone call from home, the
absence will be considered unexcused. If your child misses more than three
days due to illness, please send a doctor's note to school.
