Homework

Weekly Homework Contract

Monday:  Choose one activity from the spelling/vocabulary menu.  Complete 
the 
activity using the current spelling words.  Read and record on your reading 
log.

Tuesday:   Choose one activity from the spelling/vocabulary menu.  Complete 
the activity using five of your current vocabulary words.  Read and record 
on 
your reading log.

Wednesday:  Complete one math activity included in the homework folder.  
Read 
and record on your reading log.  Practice spelling five of your spelling 
words with someone at home.

Thursday:   Complete one math activity included in the homework folder.  
Read 
and record on your reading log.  Practice spelling five of your spelling 
words with someone at home.

Over the Weekend:  Read and record on your reading log.


Spelling / Vocabulary Menu
•	Make a word pyramid for each word.
	Example:      m
                      ma
                      mat
                      math
•	Write each word three times each.
•	Put all of the words into ABC order.
•	Write a letter to me using your spelling words.
•	Type your words on the computer.  Print your work and return it in 
your homework folder.
•	Trace the words three times each in peanut butter, play-doh, or 
shaving cream.  Have someone at home put a signed note in your homework 
folder saying that you have finished this.
•	Have someone at home give you a pretest.  Label it pre-test, then 
send it in to class in your homework folder.
•	Have someone at home make a word search for you at 
www.puzzlemaker.com and find all of the words.
•	Write sentences using each one of the spelling or vocabulary 
words.   
For a challenge, try to include more than one spelling or vocabulary word in 
each sentence.
•	Practice spelling your words using sign language.


***Please remember to do your best, first grade work on ALL of your 
homework.  Neatness is very important.
