Third Grade Writing

Third graders will be given a writing assessment to demonstrate how well they can write a narrative story. The basic narrative is the foundation for fourth grade writing. The third grade Write From the Beginning objectives are as follows:)

*Write multiple paragraphs on a single topic

*Paragraphs will have a topic sentence and minimum of 2 to 3 supporting details on topic

*Stories must have a clear beginning, middle, and end with rich descriptive language

*They must use appropriate and varied transition words and phrases

*Use proper indention, capitalization and punctuation

Narratives tell a story of what happened- Topics include:)

A special birthday

A time I was proud

Imaginative Narrative- Topics include:)

Imagine that...

Your stuffed animal comes to life

You wake up and your 9 feet tall

Your granted a wish
