*THE MAIN ROUTE OF TRANSMISSION IS HEAD TO HAED CONTACT (BRUSHES, PILLOWS, TOWELS, HATS IF SHARED IMMEDIATELY).

*PLEASE CONTACT THE NURSE OR YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER IF YOU FIND LICE ON YOUR CHILD.
*THE NURSE CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS AND A 14 DAY CHECKLIST TO STOP LICE.
If your child is sent home because lice was found on your child's head or you find evidence of lice on you child's head:
1. Treat your child with a prescription or nonprescription lice shampoo as per package directions. THESE PRODUCTS WILL NOT KILL ALL THE EGGS.
2. Dip a fine tooth comb in warm white vinegar and comb hair THOUROUGHLY and REPEATEDLY to remove nits. Remove the rest of nits by HAND.
3. Check all family members for lice and nits.
4.Disinfect articles by washing in hot wtaer for 20 minutes or by professionally dry cleaning: clothing,bedding,towels. Soak combs/brushes in lysol or a lice product or boil for 5-10 minutes.
5.Vacuum carpeting and furniture.
6.Seal unwashables in an air tight bag for 10 days.
7.Present you child to school after treatment to be rechecked by nurse or staff.
8. Check your child's head DAILY!! Remove any missed nits.
