I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but moved to Atlanta,
Georgia, to attend Oglethorpe University. During my time as an
undergraduate, I was involved in many organizations including the soccer and
track teams. I received my degree in early childhood education with a minor
in psychology.
After graduation, I taught at a private middle school for four
years. Although the experience was rewarding, I wanted to work in a public
elementary school setting. I was married in June 2001, and my husband and I
relocated to Conyers, Georgia, where I was able to pursue my career as a
fourth grade teacher. I taught fourth grade for Rockdale County Public
schools five years.
My husband, Rich, grew up in North Carolina and the Tar-Heels were
calling him home, so in 2006 we decided to relocate to Wilmington to raise
our family. Our first year in Wilmington, I taught fourth grade at Pine
Valley Elementary. This is my second year at Anderson and I am so excited to
work with such a fantastic faculty and staff! When I am not teaching, I stay
busy with our five-year-old son, Andrew, who is in kindergarten at Anderson.
I also love to read and enjoy the outdoors.
Thank you for entrusting your child to my care for this very
important year of transition from the primary to the middle grades. I am
very excited to have your child in my class and look forward to getting to
know each of you. By working together, we can ensure the success of your
child and make the 2008-2009 academic year an outstanding one.
