Calculating Your GPA

Steps

1. Add up all of the quality points to get the total

2. Divide the total quality points by the total number of potential credits

3. Compare this number to the corresponding letter grade listed below

GPA

A = 4.0

B = 3.0

C = 2.0

D = 1.0

F = 0.0

Quality Points Scale

Regular Class: 93 - 100 = A = 4.0

85 - 92 = B = 3.0

77 - 91 = C = 2.0

70 - 76 = D = 1.0

69 or less = F = 0.0

Honors Class: 93 - 100 = A = 5.0

85 - 92 = B = 4.0

77 - 91 = C = 3.0

70 - 76 = D = 2.0

69 or less = F = 0.0

AP Class: 93 - 100 = A = 6.0

85 - 92 = B = 5.0

77 - 91 = C = 3.0

70 - 76 = D = 2.0

69 or less = F = 0.0

The official GPA is based on final grades only. To calculate an unweighted GPA use the regular class scale, and to calculate a weighted GPA use the honors class and AP class scale. The weighted GPA is used to determine class rank. The GPA and class rank are listed on your transcript. Ask your counselor if you have any questions.
