Homework

I think it is important for your child to do homework. Our homework is
usually a reinforcement of a skill that we have already learned. As a
parent it is your job to make sure your child is doing his/her homework.
Here are my expectations for homework:

* It should take no longer than 30 minutes
* It should be done neatly
* It should be done daily
* You should look over your child's homework before they put it away.

Spelling:

Monday- Write the spelling words 3 times each
Tuesday- Word Search
Wednesday- Choose 5 words, write a sentence with each word
Thursday- Take a practice test, write the words you missed, 3 times each
Have mom or dad sign your test paper!!

Math:

You will have math homework on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

Reading:

Our Reading Log is VERY important in First Grade. I am a strong believer
that a child has to LOVE to read in order to be a successful reader. YOU
are your child's biggest role model. When they bring home their reading
log, please sit down with them and read. If they can not read the book, you
read it to them, and let them help. Have them practice the book and then
read it to you later in the day. Please sign the reading log daily!
