Class Expectations

STANDARDS AND EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to study to the best of their abilities and to ask for
assistance when necessary. This includes taking responsibility for their
learning and contributing to a positive class atmosphere. Students are
free to express their ideas and feelings in a manner that is clear,
respectful and defendable and respectful of the person expressing the other
ideas.

Classroom Atmosphere and Participation Conducive to Learning
Respectful and polite speech for expressed ideas and feelings
exchanged
Each student is expected to be attentive, engaged in the lesson
which includes but is not limited to active participation of taking notes,
answering questions, contributing to small and large group discussion.
Individual private conversations are appropriate for other venues.
Blasphemy, street language, slang, stereotyping, biting sarcasm,
putdowns, discussion of other people are not tolerated
Modest and respectful attire. Wearing immodest attire after first
warning results in points deducted from class participation as it is
distracting thus affecting class participation
Gum, snacks, candy, beverages including water bottles cannot be
consumed in class. A fine of .25 per infraction will be charged and items
confiscated and/or disposed; monies collected will go toward the purchase of
birthday treats.

	Tardy or Leaving the Room
Students tardy to class three times (3x) per quarter will serve
a tardy party after school. Failure to show results in loss of all class
participation points (20 points = 10% of grade)
Students will not be allowed to leave the room for bathroom breaks
or to retrieve assignments once the bell has rung.

school for the entire day, he or she has one day to turn in the assignment.
If absent when the assignment is due, it is due upon return.
If an assignment is due the day of a school-related absence then the
assignment must be turned in the day before, sent in with another student or
arrangements made with the teacher in advance.
Do not email an assignment unless given expressed permission.

school providing s/he has a valid written excuse. Students must see me
prior to the 8:30 am bell to make arrangements. Failure to do so will
result in loss of margin of error points.

margin of error points will be negated.
