HOMEROOM

HOMEROOM 11-7 "The Pride"

Please use the resources below to prepare for your college application
process this fall. During the summer you should consider opening a CFNC.org
account to maintain your academic records and organize your applications for
NC State Universities.

Recommended Timeline:

Spring 2012 (before leaving school for the summer)
     -Prepare your College Recommendation Resume
-Talk to to teachers or administrators about writing a recommmendation
for you. Have a cover letter prepared in advance, with your resume
attached. Be sure to indicate which schools you are applying to, and
      what the deadlines are.
-Create CFNC.org account, and populate the information fields with your
      academic information.

Summer 2012
-Narrow your target list of schools, and visit them if possible.
-Start gathering the application requirements, and deadlines, for these
      schools.
-Start writing essays for schools that require them.
-Investigate scholarship and grant opportunities. Gather necessary
      records for applications.

USEFUL RESOURCES:

This site will help you organize and track your required courses,
your academic performance, and your SAT and ACT scores. You may
use this site to send applications to most (all?) NC State
universities.
CFNC.org

Use this sample to create your own resume. You should give the
teachers who agree to write your recommendation a copy of this
resume since it allows them to discuss you as a "whole" person,
not just a student in their particular class.

Do not leave things off the resume. If you helped with Vacation
Bible School the summer after your sophomore year, put this on
your resume. More information is better!
