Small Group Instruction
Language Arts Group Focus:
1) Follow North Carolina Standard Course of Study (SCOS) and North Carolina Thinking Skills Questioning Guide (knowledge, organizing, applying, analyzing, generating, integrating, evaluating). 2) Read a variety of fiction, nonfiction, content, consumer, poetry, and drama selections. 3) Read with fluency, receive vocabulary and comprehension strategies instruction. 4) Comprehension strategies: * Making connections * Asking questions * Visualizing * Inferring and Predicting * Determining Importance in Text * Synthesizing * Metacognitive Monitoring 5) Use Thinking Maps. 6) Implement Classroom Instruction That Works* strategies. 7) Implement Write From The Beginning and Empowering Writers lessons.
Math Group Focus:
1) Follow NC SCOS and 9 Weeks Pacing Guide. 2) Use Reading Comprehension Strategies for Math instruction. 3) Problem Solving/Thinking Skills 4) Use Thinking Maps. 5) Implement Classroom Instruction That Works* strategies.
