Ice Cream & Cafe' Info

The cafeteria can seem quite daunting to little ones and we work super hard to make sure our Snowkids are secure and comfortable with the lunch routine. Ice Cream Day is a particularly challenging day. Ice cream costs 75 cents and is sold most Fridays. A child can deduct the money from their school lunch account IF and ONLY IF there are sufficient funds. The school does NOT allow children to go "into the red" on their lunch account to "charge" ice cream. In other words, if the child already owes money to the cafeteria, or if the charging of ice cream to the account will put the child's balance into the negative, they will not be allowed to purchase ice cream through their account. If you want your child to be able to purchase ice cream through their account, it is imperative that you make sure the child's balance has enough to cover the cost. Our cafeteria manager, sends out account balance information to any parent who requests it and also sends it when the child's account is getting low. Anytime you'd like an update, just send a note to us in the Purple Folder and we'll get it to you. The updates are sent home through the Purple Folders so make sure you're checking those every night for papers. All children, regardless of whether they bring lunch or buy lunch are allowed to purchase ice cream if they desire. However, we have no way to know whether your child's account has available monies until the cafeteria tells us. It is impossible for Mrs. Meeks or me to keep up with the balance in each individual account, so please help us help your child's "ice cream experience" by making sure money is in their lunch account.

Also in regards to lunch accounts- if it is possible to send in a check for the month instead of weekly, that makes it easier. And please always put checks or cash you send to school for any purpose in a labeled ziploc or labeled envelope.

Parents are encouraged and always welcome to join their child for lunch! However, parents are no longer allowed to charge their lunch to their child's account so please come prepared with cash or check. Also, Mr.Dingwall has asked us to remind parents that if you are coming for lunch, please wait for your child by the green benches in the lobby instead of coming to the room. Also, when lunch is over he wanted us to remind you to say "good-bye" in the lobby and not walk your child down the hall or go to the room unless you're volunteering immediately following lunch. Thank you so much for helping us help your Snowkid have a great lunch time!
