Homework

Our daily homework consists of a spelling activity, and reading. Math
homework is also sent home, but not due until Fridays.

Homework Folders:
Each child has received a purple homework folder. This folder is to be sent
back and forth to school each day. Each week there will be a folder friend
that will contain homework, spelling words, special events, and behavior.
This sheet is to be signed each day. PLEASE leave the folder friend in the
purple folder. This is our main source of communication.
Spelling Homework:
For spelling homework, please choose a spelling activity from the list in
the purple folder. Some of these spelling activities can not be turned in;
just write the # of the activity your child completed in the homework
section on the folder friend. If it is written, you may put it in the purple
folder for us to see.
Reading Homework:
Reading is part of homework every night. As the children begin AR testing,
it is important for them to read any book they want to test on at least two
times. (Unless it is a chapter book.) Children will only be allowed to test
on a book if it is recorded in their reading (AR) log. If your child chooses
to check out a book that is not AR, that is fine. The children are not
expected to take an AR test every day, 1 to 2 tests per week are encouraged.
We want them to have a love for reading. If you have any questions, please
contact me.
Math Homework:
Every Monday a math ACTIVITY will be sent home. It may be a worksheet or a
game. If it is a worksheet, please turn it in by Friday.
