Butterfly Garden Photos

We are wondering what color
our tulips will be. Hopefully, we
will know before spring break.
Thanks to Willem's dad for
providing our Tulip bulbs.

Irises are appearing!

The bright colors of stepping
stones attract butterflies. We
used glass beads and flat,
colorful tiles.
Stepping stones provide a
warming place for butterflies,
and they hold dew so butterflies
can sit and sip.

We added flat tiles so water
drops can remain on the tile. Can
you figure out why we did this?

Butterflies need to warm their
bodies before they become active.
To do this, they often sit on a
reflective surface, spread their
wings and turn their backs to the
sun.
Maybe we will observe some
butterflies basking on our
stepping stones.

The grout is used to hold in
the stones. Do you know why we
used black grout? (Yes, grout
can be messy!)
