Fifth graders will learn 5 styles of writing this year. They are:
Expressive
Informational reports
Persuasive
Book reviews (NEW-2 peer reviews & 1 self evaluation required)
Literature response
Their best piece of writing for each style will be included in their
writing portfolio which will be sent to Middle School. Their fourth grade NC
Writing Assessment will also be included. Those students who did not pass the
NC Writing Assessment will have the opportunity to work on their narrative
writing skills and improve their stories this year. (Gateway 2)
